A well reputed actor throughout a career spanning more than four decades, and one of the select few who have made both film and television careers hugely successful. She has acted in more than 400 films and a number of primetime television serials, winning the National Award, Filmfare Awards, Tamil Nadu State Award and the Malaysian Film Association Award among others. A mathematics graduate who chose acting as his profession and has acted in more than 150 films, remaining one of the industry's most popular and experienced leading actors. Winner of the Tamil Nadu State Government Award for Best Actor, M.G.R. Award, Filmfare Awards, Cinema Express Awards and Kalaimamani among others. He is involved in the operations management of the company, and has earlier served as a nominated Member of Parliament and an elected member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly (2011-16).
